Orders & Shopping

Choose your piece, select a size or length where the product offers one, and add it to your bag. Checkout is Shopify's secure checkout; the payment options for your order, including Shop Pay, are shown there. Questions before you order? Email info@sophiajewelers.com.

Email info@sophiajewelers.com with your order number as soon as possible. We can usually change or cancel an order before it ships, but we can't promise it once it is on its way. After delivery, our 30-day return and exchange policy applies. Made-to-order pieces can't be changed once production has started.

Yes. Every order arrives in a jewelry box suited to the piece, and packing slips never show prices. For a finished gift, add gift wrapping for $10 in your bag; it includes a card, a gift bag and wrapping paper.

Measure a ring they already wear on the right finger with our ring size guide. If the ring doesn't fit, it can be exchanged for another size within 30 days of delivery, as long as it is unworn and in its original packaging.

Shipping & Delivery

Standard shipping is free on US orders of $99 or more. Below $99, the USPS rate is shown at checkout. Faster options (USPS Priority Mail, UPS 2nd Day Air and UPS Next Day Air) are priced at checkout before you pay. Shipping details

Orders ship within 2–3 business days, and a tracking number is emailed as soon as yours ships. Transit time depends on the service you choose at checkout. Made-to-order pieces take longer; if you need a piece by a certain date, email info@sophiajewelers.com before you order.

Yes. Every shipment is insured for its full value until it is delivered.

Your carrier will leave a delivery notice with instructions for redelivery scheduling or package pickup at a nearby facility. Most carriers hold packages for up to 5 business days. You can also redirect the delivery using the tracking number provided in your shipping confirmation email. If the package is returned to us undelivered, we will contact you to arrange re-shipment.

Absolutely. Enter the recipient's address as the shipping address at checkout. All packaging is discreet — our boxes do not display pricing or advertising on the exterior. If you are shipping an engagement ring or surprise gift and would like us to coordinate timing or use special discretion, note this at checkout or email us at info@sophiajewelers.com.

Yes. We ship to Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia and Japan by USPS, with the rate shown at checkout before you pay. Import duties, taxes and brokerage fees are charged by the destination country and paid by the recipient.

First, check with neighbors, building management, or other household members — packages are occasionally left in unexpected locations. If the package is genuinely missing, contact us within 24 hours at info@sophiajewelers.com with your order number. Because all shipments are fully insured, we will work with the carrier to investigate and resolve the situation, including replacement or refund where appropriate.

03

Returns & Exchanges

You can return items within 30 days of delivery if they are unworn, with all original tags and packaging, plus proof of purchase. Request your return first: we'll email a return authorization (RMA) number, and returns without one can't be processed. A 10% restocking fee is deducted from refunds; it is waived if you choose store credit, or if the item arrived damaged, defective or incorrect. Full returns policy

These items can't be returned or refunded:

  • Custom and personalized pieces
  • Engraved jewelry
  • Rings that have been resized
  • Final-sale items (marked at the time of purchase)
  • Gift cards
  • Items showing wear, damage or alteration

Not sure about your item? Contact us before starting a return.

Log in to your account, choose the order and submit a return request, or email info@sophiajewelers.com with your order number. Once we issue your RMA, pack the item securely in its original packaging and ship it with tracking and insurance. Return postage is paid by the customer unless the item arrived damaged, defective or incorrect.

Yes. Within 30 days of delivery you can exchange a piece for another style, or a ring for a different size, as long as it is unworn with its tags and original packaging. We don't resize rings, so an exchange is the way to the right fit. Email info@sophiajewelers.com with your order number and the size or style you'd like.

Refunds are issued within 10 business days of receiving and inspecting your return, to your original payment method. Card refunds usually appear 3–7 business days after that, depending on your bank. Store credit is available right away and never expires.

Email info@sophiajewelers.com within 24 hours of delivery with your order number and photos of the item and the packaging. We'll arrange a replacement or a full refund, and no restocking fee applies.

Repairs & Resizing

We don't offer resizing. If a ring doesn't fit, you can exchange it for another size within 30 days of delivery. Manufacturing defects are repaired under our One-Year Limited Jewelry Warranty.

You can, but a ring that has been resized can no longer be returned or exchanged. If the size is wrong, exchange it with us within 30 days of delivery before having any work done.

Diamonds & Gemstones

The 4 Cs are the universal system for evaluating diamond quality, established by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA):

  • Cut — The quality of the diamond's facets and proportions. Cut has the greatest impact on brilliance and sparkle. An excellent cut makes a diamond truly come alive.
  • Color — Graded D (colorless) to Z (light yellow). Colorless diamonds (D–F) are the rarest; near-colorless (G–J) are virtually indistinguishable to the naked eye and offer exceptional value.
  • Clarity — Measures internal inclusions and surface blemishes on a scale from Flawless to Included. Most inclusions are invisible to the naked eye — VS2 and SI1 grades offer excellent clarity at better value.
  • Carat — The weight of the diamond (1 carat = 0.2 grams). Carat affects size, but cut, color, and clarity determine how beautiful that size appears.

Our team is happy to walk you through prioritizing the 4 Cs for your budget and style goals. Cut first — always.

Both are real diamonds — chemically, physically, and optically identical. The difference is origin: natural diamonds formed over billions of years beneath the earth's surface and are mined. Lab-grown diamonds are created in a controlled environment over weeks using the same carbon-based process, resulting in the same crystal structure, hardness, and brilliance. Lab-grown diamonds typically cost 60–80% less than natural diamonds of the same specifications. We carry both — the right choice depends on your values, preferences, and budget.

Yes. Every diamond we sell is conflict-free. Our suppliers follow the Kimberley Process and put their diamonds through rigorous checks to make sure of it.

Only when the product page says so. If a piece includes a grading report, for example from IGI or GIA, it is listed in the product details. To confirm before you order, email info@sophiajewelers.com with the product link.

Shape refers to the outline of the diamond — round, oval, cushion, princess, emerald, pear, marquise, radiant, asscher, and heart are the most common. Cut refers to the quality of faceting, proportions, and finish within a given shape. A round brilliant diamond, for example, can be graded Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, or Poor in cut — and this quality grade is the single largest driver of sparkle. Always prioritize cut grade over size when choosing a diamond.

Many gemstones are routinely treated to improve their color or clarity: sapphires and rubies are often heated, emeralds are often oiled, and some stones are fracture-filled. Treatments are common and not a flaw in themselves, but they can change how a stone should be cleaned and cared for. If you'd like to know more about a specific stone before you order, email info@sophiajewelers.com with the product link.

Ring Sizing

Measure a ring that already fits, or wrap a thin strip of paper around the base of your finger, mark where it overlaps and measure the length in millimeters, then match it in our ring size guide. You can also print our ring sizer. When you're between two sizes, choose the larger one.

Measure at the end of the day when your fingers are at their largest — they swell slightly from warmth and activity throughout the day. Avoid measuring when your hands are cold or immediately after exercise. Room temperature hands give the most accurate reading. Measure the specific finger and hand you plan to wear the ring on, as sizes differ between hands and fingers.

Size up. A ring that runs slightly large is comfortable to wear; one that is too tight is uncomfortable and hard to remove. For wide bands (6mm or more), go up another half size, because wide bands sit tighter. If the fit still isn't right, you can exchange the ring for another size within 30 days of delivery.

We don't offer resizing. Many rings can be resized by a local jeweler by one or two sizes, but full eternity bands, channel-set bands and alternative metals such as tungsten and ceramic usually can't. A resized ring can no longer be returned or exchanged, so if the size is wrong, exchange it with us within 30 days of delivery first.

Often, yes. Your dominant hand tends to be slightly larger due to muscle use and circulation. Always measure the specific finger and hand the ring will be worn on — not the other hand. If you are shopping for someone else, ask which hand they plan to wear the ring on before measuring or estimating.

Metals & Materials

Karat indicates gold purity. 14K gold is 58.3% pure gold; 18K is 75% pure gold. 18K has a richer, deeper color and is the preferred choice for fine jewelry and engagement rings worldwide. 14K is slightly harder and more durable due to its higher alloy content, making it well-suited for everyday pieces. Both are genuine fine jewelry — the choice depends on your lifestyle, look, and budget. 18K costs slightly more due to higher gold content.

White gold is gold alloyed with white metals and plated with rhodium, a bright white precious metal, for its cool, mirror-like finish. With daily wear the rhodium wears away over time (often every 1–2 years) and the piece can show a slightly warm tone. A jeweler can replate it to restore the original finish.

Both appear similar in tone but differ significantly in composition, weight, and care. Platinum is a naturally white precious metal — it requires no plating and maintains its color permanently. It is denser and heavier than gold, hypoallergenic, and the most durable metal for fine jewelry. White gold is lighter, slightly less expensive, and requires periodic rhodium replating. For engagement rings intended for lifelong daily wear, many customers prefer platinum for its permanence. Both are excellent — the right choice depends on your priorities.

All fine jewelry is stamped with its metal purity marking. Common stamps include: 14K or 585 (14 karat gold, 58.5% pure), 18K or 750 (18 karat gold, 75% pure), PT950 or PLAT (platinum, 95% pure), and 925 (sterling silver, 92.5% pure). These hallmarks are a legal guarantee of metal content and are required on all fine jewelry sold in the United States.

Jewelry Care

For pieces worn daily — engagement rings, everyday earrings, stacked rings — a gentle clean once a week maintains brilliance. Use warm water, a drop of mild dish soap, and a soft toothbrush. Rinse thoroughly, pat dry, and allow to air dry before storing. For pieces worn occasionally, clean before each wear and before storing long-term. See our full Jewelry Care guide for detailed instructions by metal and stone type.

For pieces you wear every day, have a local jeweler check the prongs, clasp and settings about once a year; for occasional pieces, every couple of years. Small issues, such as a loose stone, are easier to fix early.

The most common jewelry mistakes to avoid:

  • Exposing to chlorine, bleach, or pool water — degrades gold alloys
  • Applying hand sanitizer while wearing rings — alcohol dulls stones and dries pearls
  • Sleeping in delicate chains or earrings — stress on clasps and settings
  • Using toothpaste or baking soda to clean — both are too abrasive
  • Storing pieces tangled together — diamonds scratch every other stone and metal
  • Ignoring a loose stone or snagging prong — small issues escalate quickly

Store each piece separately in a soft pouch or lined compartment — diamonds scratch every other gemstone and even scratch other diamonds. Keep chains hanging or laid flat to prevent kinking. Store pearls in a soft cloth pouch (never airtight containers — they need slight humidity). Keep all jewelry away from direct sunlight, heat, and humidity. For silver, store in anti-tarnish pouches or with anti-tarnish strips. Visit our full Jewelry Care guide for complete storage guidance by material.
