About our necklaces
Sophia Jewelers carries more than ten thousand necklaces and chains: diamond solitaires and tennis necklaces, pearl strands, crosses, initials, lockets and hearts, plus gold and silver chains to wear on their own. Each one is finished and ready to wear.
Length matters more than most people expect. About half of our necklaces are 16 or 18 inches, and the guide above shows where each length falls, from the base of the neck down to opera length at 30 inches. If you want a chain on its own, the chain library covers fourteen styles, from cable and rope to franco and paperclip.
Metals run from solid 14K and 10K gold to sterling silver and stainless steel, and diamonds come mined or lab-grown. US orders of $99 or more ship free and fully insured, and exchanges are welcome within 30 days.
Good to know
Straight answers on length, chains, stones and delivery. Pick a topic.
What necklace length should I choose?+
For most people, 18 inches falls just below the collarbone and suits a pendant. 16 inches sits closer to the neck, and 20 to 24 inches drops lower, which works over higher necklines and as a bottom layer.
How do I measure a necklace?+
Lay it flat and measure from end to end with the clasp closed. To find your own length, run a string around your neck where you want the necklace to sit, then measure the string.
How do I layer necklaces?+
Start with the shortest piece and make each next one about 2 inches longer, so they don't tangle. A fine chain, a pendant and a slightly heavier chain keep the layers distinct.
Which chain is best for everyday wear?+
Dense chains such as franco, curb, rope and wheat hold up well to daily wear. Finer cable and box chains are lighter and suit small pendants.
What is the difference between 14K and 10K gold?+
14K gold is 58.3% pure gold and 10K is 41.7%. 14K has the richer colour. 10K is a little harder and costs less.
Are gold-plated necklaces real gold?+
The outer layer is real gold over a base metal such as sterling silver. That layer can wear with time, so solid gold is the better pick for a necklace you never take off.
What is a lab-grown diamond?+
A lab-grown diamond is a real diamond, grown in a laboratory instead of mined, with the same chemistry, hardness and sparkle.
What does ct. tw. mean?+
It stands for carat total weight, the combined weight of all the diamonds in the piece.
Are your diamonds conflict-free?+
Yes. Our diamonds are conflict-free, from suppliers who follow the Kimberley Process.
Is shipping free?+
Standard shipping is free on US orders of $99 or more, and every order ships fully insured.
Can I return or exchange a necklace?+
Yes. Unworn necklaces in their original packaging can be returned within 30 days of delivery, and exchanges are welcome too.
What if my order arrives damaged?+
Tell us within 24 hours of delivery with photos, and we will send a replacement or a full refund.
In their words
I love the bracelet. The quality is outstanding. I’m already receiving lots of compliments. I bought it because it’s pink and I’m a breast cancer survivor. I’ll be having my name engraved on it.
Great product...looks better in person then in the picture!! Nice size.
Both pieces are exactly what I was looking for. Simple and beautiful.
